In 2009, Carioca Nights returned to Pier Maua, a working terminal located in the Port of Rio de Janeiro. Pier Maua is located at Avenida Rodrigues Alves, 10 - centro.
Carioca Nights always attracts a stellar lineup of some of Brazil's best bands and musicians. The 2009 edition was no exception. Performers included Skank, Jorge Benjor, Lulu Santos, Jota Quest and Zeca Pagodinho.

Things get cranking with shows every Friday and Saturday night leading up to Carnaval. Doors open at 10PM. The performers typically take the stage around midnight and everything winds down around 4AM.
I'm not sure why there is no schedule for Carioca Nights this year. But keep your eyes open. Hopefully, they'll be back soon. In years when they do conduct the program, you can find tickets all over town. Check on the website for locations.
Modern Sound, an awesome music store/jazz lounge in Copacabana at Rua Barata Ribeiro just off Santa Clara, typically offers a discount on tickets.
You can also get tickets online at Ticketronic or by calling 3344-5500.
If you can't make it in-person, you can also check the Carioca Nights website for information on live Internet simulcasts.
In addition to the pier, past locations for Carioca Nights have include Pão de Açúcar, which made for a spectacular music venue.
Let's hope Carioca Nights is back again next year. It's a festa.
